Karla holds an International Relations Degree, a Community Involvement certification from Boston College as well as her diploma in CSR by the ITESM (TEC) and BID. In 2014 she received her Master Degree on Social Responsibility from Anáhuac University.
From 1998-2000 she was Human Resources adviser for CEMEX and part of the core team to develop CEMEX Code of Ethics. She was the Educational adviser for State of Illinois Government, USA from 2000 to 2002, in wich she developt a new Spanish language curricula for Chicago Public Schools. From 2002 to 2008 she was CEMEX adviser for social responsibility and part of the kick-off CEMEX' overall team strategy on CSR, as well as CEMEX Ethics Committe Chairwoman trough the same years.
Her international experience includes being the National Mirror Committees Chairwoman for ISO 26000 on Social Responsability from 2004 to date, ISO 37001 Antibribery, 37002 in Whistleblowers protection and ISO 20400 on Sustainable procurement. She also Industry Group Ambassador for the ISO 26000 SGN (Stakeholders Global Network).
She is also Global Reporting Iniciative´ Stakeholder Council Chairwoman from 2020 to 2022.
International ESG speaker and professor and lecturer in ESG for several Universities around the globe, such as Anahuac University, Chihuahua University, Hermosillo University, University of Monterrey, Veracruz University, Torreón University, Porche University in Austria, among others.
